A Lighter More Delicate Interior Design For Spring
As our homes steadily heat up in the spring and summer, we look around and slowly feel our home isn’t designed for the rise in temperature. We’ve just had 6 months of cold, wet, and windy weather (depending on where you live), so our homes are more geared towards warming our bodies and soft to the touch. Now that spring is here, we need to make gradual changes to our homes so our skin can breathe while we’re sitting or lying down.. Thankfully, however, the interior design changes will be easy to implement because they’re lighter and more delicate. They are also very quick and easy!
The Herbal Ambiance
During the spring, vegetables and flowers are out in full force. A lot of the fresh produce we consume in summer is sewn and picked in the spring. One of the things that start to grow early is herbs. This can be something you can have as part of your home’s decor. Small clay or white ceramic plant pots can house herbs such as basil, oregano, thyme, and chives. What’s great about this kind of decoration is that it has multiple dimensions. First, your home will be splashed with natural green. The plant pots can be stylish and handcrafted to your delight. Putting these herbs in the window sills so the herbs can receive sunlight all day long give each room an effortless decoration. On top of that, you get a herby smell wafting throughout the house. It’s the true hidden smell of spring!
Warm but Not Hot
Whether you have tiled, wooden or concrete floors in your house, it's going to end up soaking in the majority of the heat. The sunlight that thunders through your home will largely be absorbed by the floor as it has the largest surface area. This can mean that walking barefoot can hurt and be very uncomfortable. The heat from the sun is going to make the floor too hot, and if you have young kiddos who are always barefoot, they will complain :) But a thin area rug would make the floor warm, but not hot. Make your own carpet to go area rug,, where you control the style and material choice. For spring, pick a natural material that breathes like cotton and go for a Mediterranean style, with vibrant oranges, red and yellow colors. The most popular choices for this time of year are Greek, Spanish, Turkish and Italian rugs but Portuguese styles are nice too.
Bright Already
For your ceiling lights and lampshades, pick a bright color that will symbolize the change in temperature and season. Pastel yellow and baby blue are both quite popular because they’re not too strong but they are very noticeable when you want into a room.
Lighter more delicate tones and decor is why springtime home styling is so easy. It doesn’t require a lot of material changes and indeed you can put stuff in storage, subtracting clutter from rooms to make them roomier. Have fun decorating!
Cheers!
