How To Make The Holidays Less Stressful
The holidays are upon us. There is so much coming up and to look forward to. However, sometimes the holidays just bring a lot of stress and can take away the enjoyment and family time we are after. There is always so much to do especially if you are hosting dinners and have children at school with all the extra things that go on. Here are some different ways you can make this holiday season more enjoyable and banish a lot of the anticipated stress.
1. Start Shopping Early
If you haven’t already this is a sign to start picking up some things now. There are some things that will need to wait until nearer the time but a lot of things can be prepared beforehand. Presents can be brought over a few months so not only does it make you more prepared but it also spreads the cost so you aren’t spending so much in one go. You may also find things cheaper or in sales so you can save money.
2. Get Help Keeping The House Clean
Over the holidays you tend to have more people over for dinners and visits. The holidays are a time for family and friends so they will all be coming over for a catch-up. While hosting people, making preparations, working and doing all of your other tasks cleaning the house can sometimes get forgotten about or can cause unnecessary stress. So take away that stress by hiring some help. You can get all different types of maid cleaning so it suits your needs and household.
3. Prepare Food Early Where You Can
Christmas Day, Thanksgiving and any other day where you have a lot of people over for an extravagant meal can be daunting so when you have some time prepare for it and make life easier for yourself. You can prepare some of the food beforehand and freeze it. Freezers are there to make life easier and make food last longer. You can prepare, cook and freeze different foods like stuffing and gravy as well as peeling and preparing the vegetables then freezing them so you don’t have to spend all morning doing that. Then you have time to greet and entertain your guests rather than being stuck in the kitchen.
4. Create A Holiday Calendar
When you have a big family the holidays can seem like a whirlwind of events, parties and plans. It would be very easy to forget or miss one or two if you aren’t prepared and organised. Get a big holiday calendar to put on the wall and make it easier by colour coding events for each person and one colour for family events. This way you can make sure you don’t double book, miss things and you can start filling it in, way in advance.
These tips and tricks can help you have a less stressful holiday season, it is the most wonderful time of the year after all. So make the most of it.
