Interesting Home Improvements That You May Not Have Considered

Home improvements have topped many of our lists of priorities over the past year - and there’s good reason for this. The coronavirus and Covid-19 pandemic has seen many of us confined to spaces within our own four walls for around a year now. Seeing as we are recommended to only leave for essentials, such as food and medicine, many of us are finding ourselves wanting to improve the space that we can safely spend time in. Of course, there are countless renovations and improvements out there to choose from, so it would be nigh on impossible to go through every single one right now. But here are a few popular suggestions that stand out from the crowd!

Bathroom

Believe it or not, there may be a number of changes that you can make to your bathroom to modernise it and make it a whole lot more functional and comfortable to use. Many of us generally leave our bathrooms as they come with the house and accept them. But there are fun renovations and additions that can really switch things up in there!

A Wet Room

Converting your standard bathroom into a wet room is a great change that can make your bathroom easier to use, more enjoyable and boost the value of your property with its luxurious and novel nature. When you convert your bathroom into a wetroom, the process will essentially ensure that your bathroom is completely sealed, waterproof and tanked. The shower level will then be made to be at the same level as the rest of the floor, as opposed to being part of the bath or a self-contained shower unit. This allows you to walk into the bathroom, shower and then allow the space to dry. This is extremely practical and convenient. It is also great for disable individuals or the elderly with limited movement, making your shower much more accessible. On top of this, they look great. They tend to look extremely sleek and flawless.

A Heated Towel Rail
Many of us don’t enjoy stepping out of a nice warm shower into a cold room. But this is where a heated towel rail can add an extra touch of comfort. Heated towel rails don’t only warm the space around them, but they will provide you with a toasty towel to wrap yourself in as soon as you exit the shower. This is a great convenience and they’re actually relatively low cost to purchase and have installed.

A Smart Toilet

Now, for many of us, a toilet is a toilet. But believe it or not, there are toilets out there that are being developed to create the ultimate experience and make things as comfortable and convenient for you in the bathroom as possible. These toilets are known as a smart toilet and have all sorts of features that you can benefit from, ranging from heated seats to automated bidets.

A Home Bar

Many of us are missing visiting our favourite pubs, bars and other social spaces where we can grab a drink on the evenings or weekends. But why not bring that experience to your own home? Sure, you can’t invite all of your friends around quite yet. But you can hold a zoom call from your own home bar and catch up over a drink or two. This will also be a great entertainment space when we can have our nearest and dearest back over in our homes in the future too! Setting up a home bar can be a surprisingly simple and straightforward venture. There are plenty of premade home bar sets available online that can be delivered to you and easily assembled. Then, you just need to invest in your favourite ingredients and a few extras like nice glasses and shakers, and you should be good to go!

Spare Room

If you’re lucky enough to have a spare room, there are all sorts of novel changes you can make to it to make it a great and enjoyable space. Of course, often, spare rooms are simply used as guest rooms. This may have been ideal during pre-pandemic times, allowing you to have your friends and family stay. But you may have found that over the past year it hasn’t got much use and could be repurposed for the time being. Here are some alternative uses for your spare room!

A Home Office

If you’re working from home, your spare room could definitely make a great home office. All you need to do is clear it out, maximise natural light in the space and add a few office features, such as a desk, comfortable office chair and perhaps storage for notebooks, mice, headsets and more.

A Cinema Room

A cinema room can prove to be a genuinely fun addition to any home - especially if you enjoy TV shows, series, documentaries and films. Sure, televisions are great and will do their job. But a cinema room maximises the experience, adding a sense of occasion and potentially proving to be a great social addition to your home once the pandemic passes. Invest in a quality projector and screen and some comfortable seating. Sound bars are also great for maximising sound quality.

A Games Room

If you like to game or plays games, a games room could be a great use for your spare room too! Whether you set up a console, or add old school arcade games to the space, this is bound to put a smile on everyone in your household’s face. Make sure to arrange things well and you’ll be provided with entertainment for days on end!

Of course, there are many more changes and alterations you can make to your home that would be equally great! But some of these are popular ideas that many of us may not have even thought of before. Hopefully, some will appeal to you and will help to make your experience throughout the pandemic a little more comfortable or enjoyable than it may be right now.
