5 Upgrades to Your Home That Help Your Health

5 Upgrades to Your Home That Help Your Health

Many people are on a never-ending quest to improve their health. While so many of us look externally, the reality is that we should keep it closer to home! Your home environment should nurture you, and it should support you in the right ways. Also, because you may find that your allergies are more irritating at home than in different environments, there is a combination of upgrades and duties you can do to make your home as healthy as possible. Let's show you some of the best practices.

Install Air Filters

If you already have an HVAC system, ensuring that it is fine-tuned, and it is working properly should be one of your priorities. Many HVAC professionals can have a look at your HVAC system, and ensure that it is doing the job it's supposed to do. The benefits of a high-quality HVAC system are numerous, not least in terms of the fact that it will remove pathogens out of the air. But if you do not clean and maintain your HVAC system, you will encounter those pathogens in the air constantly.

Use Lime Plaster Instead of Cement Plaster

Lime plaster is something that isn't very well known, especially as it's such old material. It was used for centuries, and has fallen out of favor, and been replaced by cement-based plaster. Lime plaster has a number of fantastic qualities because of its ability to resist mold and bacteria build-up. It is less affected by moisture, and if you can find a lime plaster supplier, and start to upgrade one room at a time, you will begin to feel the benefits, especially if you experience a lot of rainfall.

Having Entryway Mats on Both Sides of the Door

Many people have a mat on just one side, but putting a mat on both sides of the door will increase the likelihood of potential toxins staying at the front door, and nowhere else. You can build upon this idea, and ask family members and guests to leave their shoes by the door, which will decrease the amount of dirt brought into the property.

Replace Old Insulation

If you live in an older property, and it's been over 40 years since any upgrades, you've got to see if insulation is fused with asbestos. Asbestos has been linked to a number of chronic health conditions, and you should contact an asbestos specialist to conduct an examination of the property. You should never try to move asbestos yourself.

Avoid Chemicals and Pesticides on Your Lawn

If you are looking to increase non-toxic solutions in the property, you should also consider upgrading to more natural practices to look after your lawn. There are many plants and vegetation that can repel different pests and animals.

These are just some of the upgrades that can benefit your health. There are many more out there, and once we get on this healthkick we may become keen to upgrade every single part of our home. But, be sure that you don't bite off more than you can chew, especially when it comes to home repairs. When in doubt, leave it to the pros!
