Picture-Perfect Hallway
The hallway or entrance area of your home is your chance to make a fantastic first impression. And why not? When you think about it, there’s no other room in the house that performs the same function. The kitchen is for cooking, the bedroom is for sleeping, and the bathroom is for scrubbing. Only your front hallway provides you with an opportunity for doing nothing other than showcasing the beauty of your abode.
Creating a picture-perfect hallway, though, isn’t always easy. While there are mountains of blogs out there on how to create the perfect bathroom or kitchen, there’s relatively little on the hallway. How do you make it look perfect?
Hang Pictures On The Wall
Nothing smack of status more than a wall adorned with pictures of you and your family the moment you walk through the door. It’s a reminder about the things that are important in life.
Putting them up is easy. Just use a cordless drill and some tacks. You can see reviews here. And once you have them all framed, then you can arrange them however you want to make the room appear more opulent.
Put Down A Rug
Putting down a delicate rug on a hard floor in an entrance area is one of the best ways to make it appear super-chic: the more intricate and opulent the pattern, the better.
Oval rugs placed centrally work exceptionally well in communal areas, like entrance halls. Just be sure to put down rubber anti-slip tape underneath to avoid a health hazard.
Upcycle Your Vintage Wares
If you have any vintage furniture in your home, the entrance hall is probably the best possible place to put it. It immediately elevates the mood and helps set the tone for the rest of your house.
One option is to place a hardwood cabinet to the side. Even better, you can upcycle a shoe rack and put that next to the front door.
Use Stained Glass
Stained glass is another powerful way to elevate the appearance of your entry hall. You can either replace the windows with stained glass versions or get a door with the feature. Unlike regular glass, the stained variety creates a unique light pattern that illuminates your interiors in the most beautiful ways throughout the day. It also creates a fun, vintage vibe.
Use Marble Wherever Possible
Hallways are all about using grand materials. And you can’t get much more dignified than marble.
Marble works pretty much anywhere in the hallway, but especially on the floors. A genuine marble floor section can dramatically enhance the ambiance of the space and give you lots of options for interior design too.
If covering the whole floor in marble is out of the question, then look for furniture that incorporates the material. You can often find cabinets and drawers with marble tops at antique fairs.
Creating the picture perfect hallway isn’t something that gets a lot of attention. Still, it is essential if you want to set the tone for the rest of your home. Nothing is stopping you from creating something powerful and opulent.
