Top 3 Things To Do Before You Sell Your Home

If you are wanting to sell your home there are a few things you need to do before you can list your home on the market. If your home looks a bit worse for wear nobody will want to buy it, people rarely want to move into fixer-uppers. If you would like to sell your home quickly and for a great price then read this handy guide that will provide some pointers on how to get your home sale-ready.

Declutter

Before you do anything in regards to selling your home you need to spend a bit of time decluttering your house. When potential buyers come to look around your property they don’t want to see all your belongings and personal items lying around the place and filling up valuable space. They want to be able to envision how their own stuff will look in your home, this is one way buyers decide whether they like the interior.

To declutter, you should go room to room, sort through your belongings, and place them into three piles. These three piles consist of the keep pile, the throw-away pile, and the sell pile. There should always be a for-sale pile of items as one man’s junk is another man’s treasure and you can make some extra cash to spend on the move or something else.

While you are sorting why not put some of the stuff you won't need into boxes, this saves time when it comes to packing everything up.

Clean

Once you have decluttered you should do a thorough deep clean of the house, this gets rid of any dirt and debris that has built up over the years. You should especially focus on the areas that are often missed during the usual weekly house cleans such as oven hoods, extractor fans, and skirting boards.

You need to make sure your home sparkles and special attention should be paid to the kitchen and bathroom making sure that there is no black mold around the edges and all the sides are wiped down.

If you don’t feel like you will do a good enough job then you can call in some professional cleaners to help you out with this. There are companies and cleaners in your area who are used to doing a thorough job and making places look brand new, they will be happy to help.

Repair

Finally, another really important aspect of getting your home sale-ready is to make sure all repairs on your to-do list are finished. When potential buyers want to purchase your property they will send around a surveyor to look at the property and report any faults or damages that they find. This report then gets sent back to the buyers and if they find anything they don’t want to deal with then they could pull out of the sale.

The main troublesome areas are the roof and the walls, if the roof is damaged this could lead to water problems such as dampness and mold. If the walls are damaged then they could end up falling apart and causing even more damage that takes more time to fix. If there is substantial damage to walls that will need to be replastered then you can call in The Patch Boys, they are very good at what they do and will have your home fixed in no time.
